Easter Blessings: The 7 Gifts from the Cross

Posted by: | Posted on: March 26, 2016

I want to share with you the 7 blessings of Easter from the 7 words of Jesus on the cross. Let us draw some revelational inspiration from each word as we celebrate the 2016 Easter:

1. Luke 23:34: Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.
People don’t know what they do. Yes, if you can take it this way then you can forgive anybody anytime. This is the secret of giving people the gift of forgiveness. Don’t assume they know. Jesus said, they don’t! They are ignorant. Forgive them because yo know better than they do.

2. Luke 23:43: Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.
Share your paradise with others. Whatever your paradise could be, share it with others. Don’t enjoy it alone. Share your talents, your time and your resources. Above all, share your faith. Let others experience the light of salvation you are enjoying. Jesus said ‘Today you will be with me in paradise’. Take someone to your paradise today.

3. John 19:26–27: Woman, behold your son. Son, behold your mother.
We are one in the body of Christ. Easter had given us one family. Easter had broken tribal barriers. The blood of Jesus runs in our blood streams as believers. Your mother is my mother and your sister is my sister. Your son is my son and your daughter is my daughter. We are one. No more family separation. No more ethnic barriers. Praise God! Jesus said ‘woman, behold your son, son, behold your mother’ We are one family in God.

4. Matthew 27:46 & Mark 15:34 My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?
Jesus was forsaken that we might be accepted. Easter gave us the gift of acceptance. Rejection is painful. You might have been rejected by a friend, an office or an appointment. Don’t worry, Easter is releasing the favour of acceptance. You shall be accepted and welcomed wherever you go. That is the favour we get from the cross – acceptance! Your children shall not be abandoned, your career will experience the oil of acceptance. He was rejected that you might be accepted.

5. John 19:28: I thirst.
He thirsted that we may be full. He thirsted to quench our thirst. No more dryness. The cross gave us abundance, plenty and many. No more lack, no more emptiness. Poverty is over! Welcome to your opulence. You shall never lack what to eat or to drink. Your days of thirst is over. Receive satisfaction this Easter. In Jesus name.

6. John 19:30: It is finished.
If he said ‘It is finished’, dear brother, it is finished! If really he said ‘it is finished’, dear sister, it is really finished! It is completed. It is done. If he finished his task, you too will finish yours. If he fulfilled his mission, you too will fulfil yours! Whatever you have started, you must finish it. The hands of Zerubbabel laid this foundation, his hands shall finish it also. Easter gave us what I called ‘the omega anointing’ – the anointing to finish. And I tell you, you shall finish strong.

7. Luke 23:46: Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.
Jesus did not die by accident. He knew when to die! Despite what he passed through, he did confidently and peacefully. Don’t live your life thinking you can die at any time. No! You shall not experience a sudden death. You shall not die young! Easter dealt with untimely death and sudden death. Note that Jesus died young that you might die old…he died for you! Never fear death…it has no power over you. He overcame death for you. Even when you die medically, you are merely sleeping! On that beautiful day of the rapture of the saints, we shall all see again where we shall shout “oh death where is your sting, oh grave where is your power?”

Every Easter as I celebrate, I celebrate the seven gifts. I don’t watch Jesus’ films to cry and mourn and refuse to eat meat. I celebrate the gifts Jesus gave me – the gift of forgiveness to freely forgive anyone anytime; the gift of paradise to share with everyone every good thing; the gift of christian family where I fellowship in true friendship full of happiness; the gift of favour and acceptance wherever I go; the gift of prosperity and plenty and abundance and excess; the gift of completion for all my projects and finally the gift of longevity for me and all my family.

Celebrate Easter with me! Celebrate the gifts. Rejoice in the blessings. He lives! You can face tomorrow.
