Welcome to this last part of the 2016 four parts Christmas reflection series. This year we focused on families. We had learned great lessons from Joseph and Mary. We noted that Joseph lived by prophecy and by revelation. Here we will focus on living by revelation.
The life of Joseph was heavily guided by revelation and every step he took fulfilled a prophecy. He was so sensitive to the spirit that he never took a decision without being commanded in the dream. Every husband must see this truth and follow it as an example for leading a family. Joseph’s sleeps were not empty. His dreams were not meaningless. He avoided so many mistakes because of his accurate spiritual sensitivity. He avoided so many dangers because of his ability to hear from God. Read More …
This is the concluding message of the 2016 Christmas series. We have seen awesome lessons to learn from Joseph and Mary as individuals and families.
Here we want to see the benefits of seeking and following divine guidance in your family. Joseph and Mary modelled this perfectly for us. Every family is created by God and must be led by God through two principal ways – 1. Living by prophecy and 2. Living by revelation. We’ll look at the first part here; please look out for the second part to understand how we can follow prophecies as Joseph did.
Living by prophecy
Every step Joseph took was in fulfillment of a prophecy. He fulfilled the prophecies of Micah, Hosea, Jeremiah and Isaiah. His steps were so ordered and directed that he fulfilled every prophecies concerning his family. None of God’s words over him failed to come to pass! We noted in part 1 that Christmas is not just a time to celebrate Jesus but also a time to congratulate Joseph and Mary. We showed three reasons why we must congratulate Joseph. Here, let’s look at four reasons why we must congratulate Mary
1. She was a young lady of purity, high level purity. She believed that virginity pays. In the midst of a perverse generation she dared to be different. There were peer pressure on her to join and ‘enjoy’ the pleasures of the town but she choose to keep her pride. She was always with the right friends both in school and church – reason why she got engaged to the right man who hold the principles of purity in high esteem. Birds of the same feather flock together! This Christmas, you need to evaluate your circle of friends. Do you have friends that motivate you to purity or those that defile your mind with impurities? Mary stood out. Dare to stand out. Read More …
Christmas is not just a time to celebrate Jesus but also a time to congratulate Joseph and Mary.
We must congratulate Joseph because
1. He was a young man who believes in purity, absolute purity! He believes in no sex before marriage. A lot of destinies are wasted today because some misguided young men demand sex as a sign of love from ladies they don’t even intend to marry. Joseph’s motto was ‘others may but I cannot’. He was a true brother. Jesus is calling on all single brothers to look at his earthly father Joseph today and learn. If brothers in churches today can emulate Joseph, lots of sanity and discipline will return to the body of Christ. Stop demanding sex before marriage. Stop arousing sexual interests before marriage. Sex before marriage is not love, it is fornication! Flee all youthful lusts including romance, caressing, pecking and all that resembles it. Do not destroy your destiny for a 4 minutes pleasure!
